3 New Restaurants and Bars In Washington

3 New Restaurants and Bars In Washington

The bar and restaurant scene in Washington continues to grow! This past week saw the grand opening of a new New Orleans-inspired cocktail bar on K Street, an Italian restaurant in Foggy Bottom and the sneak preview of a new bar coming later this fall in Chinatown.

Whether looking for a fun night on the town, entertaining clients, or a private event space, each of these has an option to suit your needs.

Check out all the new options:

Aperto

The newest addition to the Foggy Bottom dining scene, Aperto serves contemporary Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner. 17/27 Design Studio designed the eatery, which calls the former Primi Piatti location, with the goal of creating the atmosphere of an authentic Italian kitchen. Taking a cue from the restaurant’s name, which means “open” in Italian, 17/27’s design team utilized see-through wine displays and floor-to-ceiling windows to create an open flow to the space.

There are two semi-private rooms for groups of 10 to 25 people.

Vieux Carré

This New Orleans-style cocktail bar opened with a private V.I.P. party on September 14. Vieux Carré translates to Old Square referring to the French Quarter in the Crescent City. The cocktail menu features classic New Orleans cocktails like the Sazerac, French 75, Hurricane, and its namesake Vieux Carré made with rye, cognac, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine, Angostura bitters and Peychaud’s bitters.

The bilevel space can host as many as 500 for private events or half that in the mezzanine level overlooking the main bar.

Coming soon: Dirty Habit

Opening later this month, Dirty Habit will take over the former Poste space at the Hotel Monaco in Penn Quarter/Chinatown area. Contrasting the classical architecture of the original space, Dirty Habit will feature an expansive atrium and a private patio encompassed by an entire city block, located across the street from the Verizon Center.

The menu features sharable plates like crunch rise with shredded dry pork, tuna tartare with shrimp chips, eggplant bok choy and tempura calamari. The main dining room will be able to seat 153 with an additional 150 on the patio, which can also host as many as 300 for private events.
