The Road to Creating DCM
Channing has more than 15 years experience in all areas of the communications field including advertising, copy writing and reporting, editing, marketing, business development and public relations.
Before launching DCM Communications, Channing served as Director, Marketing – Canada and North American Operations at Cision, a media intelligence and software company, she coordinated all content, digital, and web-based marketing projects across North America while driving all marketing initiatives for the Canadian business. She also oversaw website redesigns, more than 10 in 10 months, and updates as well as global marketing initiatives throughout nine countries including UK, France, and Germany.
Entering the Event Industry
Channing got her start in the live events industry as the Assistant Editor at BizBash, the largest trade magazine for the special event industry. Within 45 days of starting, she moved into the role of Editor planning and managing the print and web editorial. She soon moved into the role of Miami Bureau Chief working directly with her counterparts in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. She continued on with BizBash as a Contributing Editor for seven years after moving from Miami to Washington D.C.
While at BizBash she gained access to the top marketing and events executives for brands like Patron, Nike, ESPN, Victoria’s Secret and more to gain insights on the business goals, methodologies and trends that guide their event programs.
From Editorial To Advertising
After moving to Washington, Channing took on the role of Director of Advertising Operations at Bisnow Media, a real estate industry media and event company, where she created an in-house advertising agency writing, designing, and tracking ad campaigns for real estate industry clients. In that role she managed the design and execution for more than 300 campaigns simultaneously while coaching the sales team on better business development practices.
These roles have honed her expertise in advertising, reporting, editing, marketing, social media and public relations.
Rounding Out A Communications Background
Channing received a Bachelor of Science of Communication degree, with a double concentration of print journalism and psychology, from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. Her communication work extends to a top marketing and polling firm, Zogby International, international entertainment PR agency Noble PR in London, and two local Miami publications —The Miami SunPost newspaper and D’LUXE magazine, a lifestyle publication for the affluent South Florida community.
Channing is a regular instructor of marketing classes for The Chattery, a continuing education nonprofit in Chattanooga, and a contributor for Connect Meetings, BizBash, EventEasy, and ILEA Experience, the educational hub for the International Live Events Association. She has been highlighted by the Housewives in the City organization as a Leading Lady and guest on the RIA Radio and Power of the Heel podcasts.
