What Event Professionals Can Learn from the New Orleans Saints
If you’re in the wedding industry, you’ve already passed your biggest months: May and October, and are waiting for those Christmas proposals to bring in all of the leads you need for next year.
If corporate events are your jam, you’re probably neck deep in holiday parties and super excited for that blissful relaxation that comes at the end of the year when everyone is at home to their families, including you!
This makes me think about the year that the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. The city had been rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina for a few years, but tourism was still down. Then in 2010 Saints were killing their season an on the path to the Super Bowl! The city needed a ray of light and hope and the Saints became that.
A Motivational Motto
It was during that season they adopted the “Finish Strong” motto. (Yes I know they are not the first team or entity to ever use that phrase to ignite motivation, but they’re the ones that stand out in this New Orleanian’s heart the most.)
The take away from this is that when we’re tired and feel like we’ve given all we can give, when the finish line is so close yet still seems insanely far away, THAT is precisely when it’s so important not to give up but push forward even harder.
The stronger you finish 2019 the more solid you will go into 2020. After all, who doesn’t want to start a new year with business already solidified in your books and checks coming in the mail?
Applying This To Your Business
So while you rush like crazy to prep for engagement season or wrap up those final events this year, don’t overlook finishing your 2019 marketing programs and sales effort strong so you are setting yourself up for a positive new year.
Prioritize those marketing campaigns because let’s not forget: the more you do marketing when you are busy, the more consistent revenue will be month over month because as one project ends, another is already in queue to get started.
And that my friends is what event profs (and all businesses really) can learn from the New Orleans Saints. WHO DAT!
